Vanessa
Rumaz Boyd, published illustrator
and award-winning designer will lead
a small group of children to explore
the wonderful experience of creating
a picture book. Children will learn
how to work in a collaborative environment
and how ideas, pictures and words
can come alive inside the pages of
a book.
Lessons will include how and where
to get inspiration, how to brainstorm,
how to create a ”dummy”,
how to discover the different angles
of a story, how to plan for text and
illustrations, editing copy, binding,
and marketing, as well as hands-on
exercises. Children will also get
to meet a writer, an illustrator or
an editor and ask questions. At the
end of camp, children will hold a
book fair and will present their books.

WHAT TO BRING
Mostly all we want is your child's
imagination! Comfortable clothes and
a smock are ideal (we will be using
markers). Bring a light snack. We
kindly ask that you do not bring highly
sugared foods or drinks. We will provide
water, cups and napkins. We'll also
provide pre-binded books , pens, pencils,
markers and everything else we need
to make the experience fun and creative.
